Focus on what you CAN do...

I wasted a lot of time focusing on what I couldn't do. I wasted a lot of time saying "I can't." 

Yes, there are a lot of things I can't do...YET. But there are also a ton of things I CAN do. And a ton of things I can LEARN to do! 

If we spend our time focusing on what we can't do, we'll end up doing a whole lot of nothing. Remember, our bodies listen to what our minds tell it. So if we keep saying, "I can't do XYZ...", then guess what? You won't be able to. Or you do it, but it isn't pretty. 

We all have strengths and weaknesses. Things we're naturally good at, and things we have to learn to be good at. When we focus on our strengths, great things happen. We focus on what we CAN do and we make things happen. 

However, that doesn't mean we shouldn't focus on our weaknesses at all. We should focus on learning how to do those things, or even better, learning to ask others for help in those things. 

I've been doing CrossFit consistently for 5 years, and I've been in business for 3 years. I can tell you that I started both with some naturally "easy" for me things, but I definitely had a lot to learn in both. I also still have things I'm learning on a daily basis. There are always ways to improve things I'm not good at, as well as to improve things I am good at. 

Nobody starts anything an expert. There is always a learning curve and we've all been a beginner at some point. Remember that when you're nervous to start anything. Also remember to use what you know and what you're able to do. Focus on the positives and you'll be amazed at what you can achieve. The rest will come! I promise. 

And keep your mind open to new ways of doing things. To learning new things. Don't be so stuck on one way of doing things that you end up stalled because it isn't working. Be flexible. Be willing to make changes as you go. Because the one thing I know for sure is that most things won't go as planned. 

So here's to focusing on what you CAN do! And not letting what you can't do interfere with forward progress!
