So this past Saturday was my 35th birthday. I told my husband that I didn't care if we did anything, that it wasn't a big deal. But he wanted to take me out to dinner with a bunch of my friends. So we planned a dinner out for Saturday night.
And then it snowed. Well...it sleeted. A lot.
So we were snowed in. And I'll admit, I was a little disappointed. We rarely get out with a bunch of my closest friends, and I was actually looking forward to it.
Instead, I spent my birthday at home, watching the kiddos play in the snow, then watching a movie. I got birthday pancakes (gluten-free, of course) and my hubs let me relax all day. But I'll tell you what...being snowed in is boring.
I was looking forward to going to the gym, then going out later that night. It's not like I had a bunch of stuff planned, but it's nice to be able to get out of the house when we want to. We said we wanted a truck after the last flooding, but we haven't gotten one yet. Now we want one for the snow, LOL.
Oh, and here's another fun fact. Three months ago, Scott and I got married during Hurricane Matthew. Days before the wedding, people were asking me if it was happening, regardless of the weather. Days before my birthday, people were asking me the same thing.
Apparently, I enjoy having big life events during nasty weather! But hey - we've survived some big storms so I can't be mad about it!
All in all, it was just another day like any other.
But I am blessed. Blessed for another year, another birthday. Blessed for a beautiful family that spoiled me (as much as they could being stuck at home). Blessed for a daughter that gave daddy a ticket for farting on me on my birthday (you read that right, hahahahaha). Blessed for having a roof over our heads and food on our table. Blessed for being able to work and read and have POWER all day and all night.
Thank you to everyone for the birthday and well wishes! I truly felt the love!
It may not have been the most exciting and things didn't go as planned, but life is good. I have a pedicure waiting for me when we can get out and about (and believe me, I need one), and it was nice to not have to clean up after breakfast or dinner. It really is the little things that truly make me happy.
If only my birthday pancakes looked like that ^^ But nonetheless, they were delicious. Buuuttttt we did end up going out on Sunday and he made me peppermint brownies :) Seriously...so good.
Have a beautiful week!
With love and wellness,
PS - I used to pray for snow like this when I was growing up. Snow was so much cooler as a kid. Now it's just annoying, LOL.
