I was shocked...and a little terrified...when I was first asked to demo/coach a strength training class at DeSel Fit. I didn't think I knew what I was doing or how I would do or if people would even show up!
But I realized that I could demo a class and if it didn't feel right, I didn't have to continue on. Right?!
Oh. My. Gosh.
Can I just tell you how much I love it? How fulfilling it is to be able to help these beautiful women that come every Wednesday night? To see their strength and flexibility and depth of their squats improving?
And the best compliment ever is when one of those ladies says she can feel the difference in how her clothes fit, that her husband AND doctor have complimented her and noticed how she looks, and that she looks forward to Wednesday nights in my class!!
Yup. I'm sentimental and I not only got goose bumps but I teared up.
Those are the very best compliments! It cements that I made the right decision to coach at DeSel Fit. I love the gym and the women who own it. It truly is a family that has fun while they work out!
But let me back up a little. Selina and Desi asked me at one of their events awhile back and I'll admit, it scared me. I've never coached before. I had no idea what to do!!
But I did a little research. Thought about it. A lot. And knew I had to give it a chance.
From the first class, it has been such an amazing experience. This stuff somehow comes completely natural to me (not to toot my own horn or anything). I also have my Crossfit Level 1 so I've been through the training and have worked out basically my whole life.
It is so fulfilling to explain a movement and watch the ladies take in what I'm saying, make the adjustments and see HUGE improvements in their form, the movement and the weight they're able to use.
I'm thankful Selina and Desi saw something in me I didn't see at first. Sometimes it takes others believing in you first before you're able to see it. And sometimes it takes jumping right on in with both feet, even if it terrifies you and you have NO idea where to even start.
Just remember, you miss 100% of the chances you don't take. And yes, I know. Not everything works out the way you'd hope. But how will you know if you don't step out of your comfort zone and try?!
With love and wellness,
This week has been a busy week. I've been on the go nonstop all week long. From one meeting to the next with the gym and food thrown in there too. Every. Single. Day.
However, it's one that I completely did to myself. Because the only person that has control of my schedule is me!!
Do you know how long it's taken me to learn this lesson?! I mean, seriously.
Nobody, and I truly mean nobody, can monopolize your schedule and your time. Unless *you* let them. You have the power to dictate your schedule and your time.
But far too often, we feel obligated to say yes. Or to accept their first invite or offer because we think we might miss out on something. Or we think it won't interfere with any other part of our schedules.
I know I do this. I work really hard to be in control of my time and my schedule. But as a new business owner and entrepreneur, I feel like I have to take every meeting and at the time they suggest. And I stress myself out. I overtax myself and I end up miserable.
Slowly but surely, I am taking back control. If the time or date doesn't work for me, I let them know I am unavailable and provide other options that I am available. It's definitely still a work in progress but I'm happy I'm getting better at it.
I'm also learning I need to schedule my time and honor it. Not just with other people, but with myself. I need to have set dates and times for the different areas of my business. I kind of try to do it all, every day. Can you guess how that turns out?!
Another area I've been working on is changing the way I look at my schedule. I currently look at my calendar and think, "Oh my gosh! I am so busy! My schedule is insane!" And you know what?! It ends up feeling that way because it's where my energy is focused!
So I'm retraining my brain. I want to start thinking, "I am so blessed to have a full schedule that allows my business to grow and expand and flourish! I am so blessed to meet with these amazing people and be presented with so many opportunities."
Wow. Such a change in perspective! However, this takes work! And yes, retraining your brain! But it is so powerful!
Of course, the first step is recognizing it. So when you start thinking that or saying it to someone, focus on it and reframe whatever it is.
Let me know if you need some help with this. I'd love to help you retrain your brain!
With love and wellness,
I don't know about you, but I am sick and tired of hauling buckets and breaking my back to earn money and pay my bills. I want my cup to runneth over...to have a pipeline of funding coming in!
Yeah, I know...that doesn't make any sense! But I promise, it will. Just stick with me for a few.
Let me introduce you to doTERRA. Yup - that's what I said.
And again, I know. I've been talking about doTERRA and promoting it for awhile. But now I'm not just talking about the products, I'm also talking about the business side of doTERRA!
doTERRA has changed my life. In every aspect. Not only do I absolutely love the products and what they have done for me and Scott, as well as our friends and family, but I absolutely love what it has done for my confidence, my knowledge, my mindset, and my business! I have grown so much in the short period of time since I've started building my business and really sharing this opportunity with people.
doTERRA offers the pipeline I was talking about at the beginning of this post. It's residual income so that I don't have to continuously haul those darn buckets over and over again!
Think about it. I'm already using these amazing products in my every day life so it's not a far stretch to then introduce them into others' lives. In addition, I may as well get paid to promote them! Duh!!
It's such an AMAZING opportunity to spread the word on these amazing natural products, it's a company that I 110% believe in, and the opportunity to build my pipeline of residual income is HUGE.
I DO NOT want to work my butt off for the rest of my life, living paycheck to paycheck, wondering when my next vacation will be, or worse, making money for someone else. I want to be my own boss, living for myself, on my time, financially free, have time freedom, making money for MYSELF.
Now I know what you're thinking...because I did too. It sounds crazy, right? Like it's too good to be true...like it's so far outside the box that there's no way it would work.
But it does. I've seen it. I've lived it. I *AM* living it! Since I've started putting my 100% focus and effort into building my business with doTERRA, I've earned more money, seen more benefits, and have been happier than I have been in a long time!
And all I'm doing is SHARING these amazing products with other people! That's it.
People always tell me, "I'm not a good salesman. I could never do this."
Guess what, people? You. Are. Wrong.
I'm not a salesman either. I am not the pushy, in your face, BUY BUY BUY type of person. Never have been, never will be.
But you know what I am? A great EDUCATOR! A great SHARER! And I am so full of PASSION for these products, for this company, for this opportunity!!
And I can't help but share it with you!
Are you interested in learning more? Interested in hearing more about what this crazy lady is talking about? Contact me today, because I'd love to share this journey with you!
It's been such a crazy fun adventure...I never imagined this is the path my life would take, but I also can't imagine it any other way now that I'm on it.
Dare to take the chance...make a change...see how it changes your life!!
Don't haul buckets the rest of your life. Let's build that pipeline, so you can enjoy your family, your time, your freedom.
With love and wellness,
PS - check out more about the oils and the company here.
I didn't know I wanted to own my own business when I was younger. It was never something I thought about, let alone dreamt about.
You know those people...the ones who found their passion when they were young...they followed their dreams and lived their passion from the beginning.
I thought I was one of those people. When I was 12, I went to work with my mother for Take Your Daughter to Work Day (which is now Take Your Kids to Work Day, FYI), and I fell in love with her job. She was a criminal investigator and I just thought it was the coolest thing ever. From that point on, that was my goal, my passion.
So I went to college knowing I wanted to major in criminal justice and minor in accounting, because federal investigations are white collar crimes. AKA, follow the money. At age 22, I graduated from college and got my first job as an investigator with the Department of Energy. For 4 years, I worked my butt off learning as much I could, taking all sorts of training, and learning the investigations world.
And then I got bored.
So I did some research and learned a little more about the Department of Defense's criminal investigative office (DCIS). That's where I ended up, and initially, loved it. I was always on the go and always learning something new.
After about 5 years and a 6 month deployment overseas, I found that I wasn't as fulfilled as I had been. Or thought I had been.
Things changed. I changed. The job changed.
So I moved to our Norfolk office (from Alexandria), hoping that things would be different. And yet, they weren't.
I couldn't put my finger on it. Something was missing in my life.
It wasn't until I started doing a lot of research into my own health and nutrition that I started finding the answers. I didn't know it at the time, but it was *exactly* what I was looking for. The more I dove into it and it became my world, the happier I felt and the more I felt at ease.
Add in the essential oils, and I have truly found my passion. Like I said, I didn't know I wanted to own my business and be my own boss, but that became my dream about a year and a half ago. And now...now I'm living it.
Yes, it's work...but it's oh so fulfilling! It's one of the most fulfilling jobs I've ever had! Helping bring these natural solutions into people's lives and seeing how it changes their lives!! Seriously.
It's funny because I think people have a misconception about what I've been doing since I left my government job. I was asked the other day if I was enjoying not working and sleeping in until 10 a.m. every day.
Ha! I wish I could sleep in that late! I don't have that ability (ask Scott, LOL...sorry, babe!).
I have a full schedule just about every day! As my own boss, I have to keep myself accountable and on track when it comes to meetings, classes, talking about the oils, setting up initial health coaching client meetings, etc. I can't just sit around, hoping and waiting for things to happen for me. I have to go out and make it happen!!
But like I said, it has been so much fun!! I am tired at the end of every day, but I also end every day with a smile, knowing I am giving my all and doing my best, every single day. I also know that Rome wasn't built in a day, so I'm not being too hard on myself if something doesn't go as planned. I re-evaluate and keep on moving forward.
My whole point is that I didn't know my true calling or my dream to own my own business until I was 32!! It's never too late to find your passion and to make the changes necessary to make your dreams come true!!
What are your dreams? Leave me your answer in the comments! I'd love to hear about them!
Have a beautiful Friday and enjoy your weekend!
With love and wellness,
