So the purpose of changing my diet and eliminating gluten, dairy and excessive amounts of red meat was to heal my body of this insane itchy rash on my back and legs. That was my main goal. I didn't really think of anything else but that.
Today and several times this past week, I have been told how healthy and fit I look. How I've lost weight, but am still toned.
It hit me that cutting out those things that don't really agree with me had the added benefit of slimming down!
Like...hello?! Uh duh.
I swear, I live a healthy lifestyle but sometimes I put blinders on and just go with it. It's such an awesome feeling though, when other people notice and it turns on that light bulb for me.
I've definitely felt better, have been moving better at the gym, and am happy with how I look. All wins in my book!!
I think another part of feeling better is finally making a decision on a *huge* life change that will be coming soon!! I don't mean to tease, but I can't say anything just yet! Just keep your eyes and ears open for some news in the next month or so!
With that said, let's talk about huge life changes. They can be terribly exciting, but also incredibly terrifying! The what ifs start taking root and you start doubting yourself. I know that happened to me in the months leading up to me actually making my decision final!
One of the biggest things that helped me is the following saying: "Feel the fear and do it anyway." That and the belief that we should 100% do the things that scare us the most.
Let's just say this decision has been on the table for quite awhile, and it wasn't an easy decision to make! I've gone back and forth so many times. I've counted the pros and cons over and over again. I've changed my mind. Doubted my decision. Called myself crazy time and again.
It's not only driven me crazy, but also Scott and all my closest friends and family. Like come on. Shit or get off the pot! (Another one of my fave sayings, lol.)
Sometimes it isn't about all the lists or what ifs or doubts or what you "should" be doing. Sometimes it's about that gut feeling. That calling in your soul. That feeling that what you're doing is right...for YOU.
And now, having prayed and meditated and really listened to what my soul was saying and having made the decision, I feel so much more at peace. I know that I have made the right decision. I'm not second guessing myself and I already have amazing plans in place!!
I'm so full of excitement and I CAN NOT wait to share it with you all! But you'll have to be patient a little longer ;-)
Here's to big life changes! Huge successes! And most importantly, happiness!!
Is there a decision you're struggling to make? I'd love to help you find the peace and happiness in your decision that I've found in mine! It is truly freeing!!
With love and wellness,
I know, I know...that saying is so cliche. But it's accurate. Everything does, in fact, happen for a reason.
It's so easy to say this, but it's not always easy to believe in it. This past month has been very trying...it's been one thing after another with little to no down time. And that doesn't make it the easiest to cope (think tired and stressed and pulled in 8,000 directions).
I've relied a lot on prayer and a lot on this statement. When something doesn't go my way or the way I thought it would, I try (sometimes very hard) to not get upset. It just means that whatever was supposed to happen...or whatever I wanted to happen...was not the right or best thing to happen.
For instance, in mid-January, we had tenants ready to sign a lease for February 1. We thought everything was good to go...we were super excited and ready to get everything going. And then it all fell through.
It was so frustrating.
But I kept the mantra going in my head...everything happens for a reason.
It doesn't always make sense...and it may not be the answer or action/reaction you wanted, but that doesn't make it the wrong thing.
It's really true...God does have our backs. Always. I've had to learn to let go of what I thought my future would look like...what my life was "supposed to" look like in my head. And realize that God has so many better things in store for me.
Just because it doesn't go my way doesn't mean it's the end of the world. In fact, it often means there are *better* things out there for me! When I thought I was being shorted or misdirected, more often than not, I was actually being guided to something bigger and better and more suited for me!
So while I know it is much easier to say and to tell you to try to do this, it is something that can become habit. Yes, life throws us curveballs... All. The. Time. But that's the beauty of life...it is a journey and one that we are here to enjoy and to LIVE!!
And yes, I promise...everything does happen for a reason!!! You may not get it right away...you may question it and wonder why life is so unfair...you may get angry and upset and throw around some choice words!
But next time, trust that there is a reason behind it! Have faith that God knows what is best for you!
Here's the long and the short of it....
Life. Is. Good.
Even when things are going badly, when you think there is no hope...remember that. Life is good. It may not be peaches and cream all the time, but know there are always things going on in the background that will lead you exactly where you need to be.
In my experience, this has always been the case for me. I love my life. I am so grateful for all the things I have in my life. Even when things look ugly (and believe me, there are days I don't feel like there's anything to be grateful for).
My life is amazing. I woke up this morning. I have yummy food on my table (well, in my fridge for now). I have an amazing boyfriend, an ornery dog, and his beautiful children (all who love me for exactly who I am).
See - I feel better already :)
What do you have to be grateful for today? I'd love to hear from you! How is your life absolutely amazing?
With love and wellness,
Who doesn’t get inspired when you read something like that?! I mean, seriously…don’t we all want to get healthy?!
But I know for many, this is overwhelming. You ask, “Where do I start? Do I start working out more? Do I change my diet? Do I need to buy new supplements? Workout clothes? Aaahhhh. I don’t know where to begin!!”
Does that sound familiar? The questions may look/sound different, but for many people, it becomes entirely too much and you throw in the towel before you even begin!!
Let me be the first to tell you…you don’t have to do it alone! I recently became involved with an organization called Let Her Be Heard (www.lhbh.info). This organization is all about helping women to listen and understand their health needs to develop a healthier lifestyle.
It’s such a beautiful organization because it helps women to listen to their bodies! It’s amazing what it can tell you if only you stop and learn to hear what it’s telling you! Remember my gluten story from a couple weeks ago? I *knew* that I had a reaction to gluten…yet, I momentarily stopped listening to my body until it was literally screaming at me to stop!
As a health coach and someone who is passionate about nutrition and natural living, I 100% believe in what Let Her Be Heard stands for and am proud to partner with them!
With that said, I am inviting you to join us for our Let’s Get Healthy event on February 20, 2016! From noon to 3 here in Virginia Beach at the amazing fitness facility, DeSel Fit (www.deselfit.com), I will be with Let Her Be Heard talking about Food and Mood, The Healthy Gut, Skin-trition, and The Fun in Exercise!!
Don’t miss out because it is sure to be an amazing event! Learn more about getting (and staying) healthy, listening to your body, and about fitness from other women who have been down the same path!
The price for attendance is $20 per person, or bring a friend and pay $35 for two! If you are interested in attending, click here to purchase one ticket or click here to purchase two! This price not only includes an amazing event and several presentations, but it also includes lunch, a cookbook, and so much more!!
I hope to see you there, because it truly will be a life-changing event! I am so excited for it!
Enjoy the rest of your week!
With love and wellness,
January was a crazy month. With that said, I can’t believe it is already over and we are in February. Where did the past month go?!
I had big plans for January…well, for 2016 really. I had it all figured out…knew what I wanted (and needed) to do. And then…well, life happened. My priorities changed…note that what I wanted didn’t change, but where they fell in the grand scheme of things did. And that’s not necessarily a bad thing.
So…I did what I had to…I made NEW plans. Better plans for me and my family. Part of those plans included buying a house with my boyfriend and joining our families under one roof. Not gonna lie, this is one of the main reasons January was so crazy (but definitely the good type of crazy).
For those of you who have ever purchased a house, you know what I’m talking about. It certainly is a super fun and exciting time, but it’s also super stressful and a whole lotta work! Throw in full time jobs, kids and their schedules, oils events (that had previously been planned), plus putting our two houses on the market (one for sale and one for rent) – let’s just say it's made for a hectic time (albeit a fantastic one)!
We closed on January 28 and moved January 29-30. Now the real fun begins…the unpacking and figuring out where everything goes. We have already rearranged furniture several times, LOL. But we love our house…all of us…even the dog (well...maybe the dog).
But needless to say, you can see why I had to postpone some of my goals for January. One of my biggest goals is to continue building with doTERRA and making the oils more a permanent and full time thing.
So with that said, I attended not just one oils event last week, but two…all in closing and moving week (yes, I am crazy). I am so thankful for Scott and his help and ability to keep me sane (plus an awesome day planner that keeps me on track too!!).
The first event was at a local running store, Fleet Feet, held last Tuesday evening. They held an event called Fit Fest, where a Brooks representative came in and fitted women for sports bra. Scott and I had a table set up and shared the oils with several women (and one child), and had so much fun! I love being able to share these natural alternatives with people! Check it out below!
The second event was this past Saturday (yes, one of our moving days) at the grand opening event of a couple friends’ fitness facility, DeSel Fit in Virginia Beach. Scott couldn’t join me for this event as he was taking care of part of our move (thanks, love!!), but he told me to go and represent myself and doTERRA. I am so glad I did!! This facility is awesome, and the owners, Selina Arboleda and Desi Middlebrook, are amazing! Check out their awesome new facility and try one of their classes!!
Once again, I got to share these amazing oils with so many different people!! I had a fun game to play and was able to give away the grand prize to the winner at the end of the event! Check out some of the pictures below!
Don’t miss out on future events, because I always have some sort of fun giveaway or prize!! Check out my website or Facebook page to get updates, because I’d love to share these oils with YOU!!
Oh, and one more bit of good news! Going gluten free has started clearing up my skin rashes and itchiness (thank goodness!!). I’ve also started eliminating much easier and more often now too (TMI, I know, but have to provide you with all the info!).
All in all, January was an amazing month…I didn’t hit my goals with doTERRA or my health coaching, but I far surpassed where I thought I would be going into February. Now it’s time to write out my February goals and what I need to do to accomplish them.
What are your goals for February? For 2016? Let me know in the comments! I’d love to support you and help you reach your goals!!
Have an awesome week!
